VW threatens unions with factory closures

Europe's largest carmaker, Volkswagen, is in negotiations with German trade unions over improving manufacturing costs and warned on 24 August 2005 that job losses or pay cuts may be required, and hinted at the possibility of factory closures if no deal is reached.
