Quality is the key to international food markets. Food standards ensure the smooth functioning of the international supply chains. Commercial quality standards are used as a common trading language for buyers and sellers and as a reference for quality control.

UNECE has been working for more than 50 years on commercial quality standards for a wide range of agricultural products: fresh fruit and vegetables, dry and dried fruit, potatoes, meat products, eggs and egg products and cut flowers. The standards are used by governments, producers, importers and exporters as well as other international organisations. On these pages extensive information about the ongoing work as well as existing standards can be found.
