Eurosurveillance is a free and open access multiformat journal that has been publishing authoritative, peer-reviewed information on communicable diseases from a European perspective since 1995. In 2005, it embarked on the process of becoming the regular scientific communication of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), international surveillance networks in Europe, and other professional collaborators with the ECDC. Through its weekly and monthly releases, Eurosurveillance aims to provide authoritative, peer-reviewed information on communicable diseases from a European perspective. Most of its reports are about events occurring in the countries of the European Union (+ Norway), though there are also reports on major events from other parts of the world. It is targeted at all those directly concerned with communicable disease surveillance, prevention and control throughout the European Union.
