The European Commission held a stakeholder seminar on 16 February 2006 on 'Challenges and opportunities for European Wines'. The seminar focused on the strengths and weaknesses of the European wine sector and how the EU wine policy should look in the future. There was a large consensus on the need to keep a specific Common Market Organisation for wine but to reform it. The European Commission, following further consultation and impact assessment, intends to bring forward proposals later in 2006. This website will bring together all the relevant reports and proposals. |
