The BEACON project was one of the winners at the RegioStars 2014 Awards Ceremony in March 2014,as one of Europe's most promising and innovative EU-funded regional projects. The initiative from West Wales and the Valleys was the winner in the category ‘Sustainable Growth’.

BEACON will help Welsh businesses develop new ways of converting crops such as rye grass, oats and Miscanthus (Asian elephant grass) into products including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, fuels and cosmetics.
