Why the push to install Juncker is so damaging

The appointment of Jean-Claude Juncker as President of the European Commission would be the wrong way for the EU to respond to the strong showing of eurosceptics and populists at the May 2014 European Parliament election. It suggests that governments are not listening to their electorates’ concerns, and risks further undermining already very low popular confidence in the Parliament.
