The Council of the European Union adopted on 27 February 2017 the informal agreement reached with the European Parliament on the proposed regulation revising the suspension mechanism which can be applied to existing visa liberalisation agreements.

The proposal was originally released by the European Commission in May 2016. The informal agreement was reached on 7 December. The Parliament adopted it a few days later.
