Members of the US-led global coalition to counter the Islamic State (IS) were scheduled to meet for the first time in early December 2014 in Brussels.

The gathering comes amid larger discussions how to counter a security threat which some European Union's states now consider a top priority.

The coalition's priorities were broadly outlined to include five strategic points: 1) military; 2) dealing with foreign fighters; 3) disrupting IS revenue stream; 4) humanitarian assistance; 5) delegitimising jihadist militants.
