Debate on the situation of the EU’s base metals industry

The European Parliament's plenary session held a debate on 24 November 2015 with the Indiustry Commissioner on the EU's base metals industry, including the steel sector.

The chamber debated anti-dumping and sustainable initiatives to support this industry, among other issues. Granting free market economy status to China was seen as a source of concern in this context.

The Council of the European Union had held an extraordinary meeting to discuss this matter earlier in the month.
