EU signs deal on ties with Serbia

Serbia and the European Union signed the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) and an Interim Agreement on the 29 April 2008. These will put Serbia on the road to eventual membership of the EU. The move provides a boost to pro-EU political forces ahead of Serbian parliamentary elections on the 11 May 2008.
