Immigration debate intensifies in Sweden

After the nationalist Sweden Democrat party called for Sweden's snap March 2015 election to be a 'referendum on immigration', a group of veteran politicians called on the nation's other political groups to engage in debates about refugee numbers or risk losing votes.

EurActiv reported on 18 December 2014 that the far-right party was benefiting in polls from forcing a new election.
