Political negotiations to approve 2017 national budget in Portugal

The leader of Portugal's Left Bloc, one of the parties supporting in the parliament the centre-left minority government, indicated on 13 September 2016 that negotiations for the 2017 national budget were heading towards a deal.

The government promised the European Commission it would keep cutting the budget deficit as it reverses many of the austerity measures of the previous administration.
