On the occasion of his State of the Union speech on 14 September 2016, European Commission president announced the creation of a European Solidarity Corps, which could reflect the values supported by the European Union and encourage young Europeans to show their solidarity in challenging situations. The scheme was to be developed in accordance with the European Volunteering Scheme (EVS) Charter. |
