16 January 2017 marked the first anniversary of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), agreed between the European Union, China, Germany, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, and Iran. The EU suggested that one year after the beginning of the implementation period, it was clear that the JCPOA was working for all. To mark the anniversary, EU High Representative Frederica Mogherini gave a speech. She said that in the course of the first year, JCPOA participants had powerfully demonstrated their full commitment to respect and implement the deal. She also said that Iran has delivered on its nuclear related commitments as confirmed by the four reports issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency. She insisted that the European Union would continue to work hand in hand with all those willing to contribute to its full implementation and in achieving the objectives of the agreement. |
