It was announced on the 27 December 2014 that Sweden's government had abandoned plans to hold an early election in March 2015, after crisis talks between Social Democrat Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and the country's four centre-right parties known as the Alliance.

In the 'December Deal', which would last until 2022, whichever of the six major parties were in opposition would promise not to block the government's proposed budget.
