Background and further information:

This report focuses on developments under two main pillars: tackling terrorism and organised crime and the means that support them; and strengthening defences and building resilience against those threats. It also covers more broadly the actions taken since the State of Union speech by the European Commission President in 2016, in which he pledged to enhance security at the EU external borders, improve information exchange between Member States, close down the space in which terrorists operate and prevent radicalisation.
