US urges EU not to halt trade talks over spy affair / EU-US free trade talks restart in Brussels

Trade officials from the EU and US met in November 2013 for the second round of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) talks, with discussions on services, investment, energy and regulatory issues.

Speaking in Warsaw on the 5 November 2013, US Secretary of State John Kerry urged European leaders not to let the NSA snooping scandal derail the EU-US trade talks.

On the 15 November 2013, US and EU trade negotiators rejected accusations that they were pandering to multinational companies in their push to agree the world's largest free-trade deal, saying food safety and the environment would not be put at risk.
