Pipelines: Competition and fall in demand cast shadow

Although construction of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline is due to start in April 2010, big question marks hang over the fate of a handful of other big, politically important European gas pipelines, especially following the onset of the recession and the collapse of the gas price.
