France's National Front party came out top in a poll on how French voters intended to cast their ballot in the 2014 European Parliament elections. A poll by Ifop for Le Nouvel Observateur, published on the 9 October 2013, found that 24% of those asked said they would vote for the anti-immigration, anti-Muslim National Front party. Another hint of what might be the FN electoral performance during the European elections in 2014 was its victory in a local by-election on the 13 October 2013, the latest sign the anti-immigrant party might be benefiting from discontent with ruling Socialists and mainstream opposition conservatives. |
