Can we trust referendum polls in the UK?

The referendum in the United Kingdom on European Union membership is almost upon us, with polling suggesting a tight race. Here, Stephen Fisher and Alan Renwick look at how the polls have performed vis previous referendums and find reasons to expect a higher Remain total than the polls show.
