Competitiveness Council, 29-30 May 2017

Summary:

A meeting of the Competitiveness Council (COMPET) was held on 29-30 May 2017, focusing on matters relating to internal market and industry, research and space. The agenda included the following items:

• Adoption of general approaches concerning the following proposals of the European Commission:
  • reform of the system of type-approval and market surveillance for motor vehicles;
  • notification procedure in the services sector;
  • cross-border mobility of professionals in the European Union;
• Debate on industrial policy, followed by the adoption of conclusions on a future EU industrial policy strategy;
• Debate on the implementation of the space strategy for Europe, followed by the adoption of conclusions on its priorities;
• Adoption of conclusions on streamlining the R&I monitoring and reporting landscape;
• Exchange of views on the economic rationale for public R&I funding and its impact;
• Briefing on the preparations for the implementation of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA).
