Denmark was expected to pump billions of kroner into its financial system in March 2012, mirroring recent operations used by the European Central Bank that boosted markets and helped stave off a liquidity crunch in the eurozone banking system.

Danmarks Nationalbank, the central bank, was offering the country’s 100-plus lenders access to three-year loans in an effort to wean them off state aid provided during the 2007-08 crisis as well as smooth funding issues facing the country’s fragmented banking system. Analysts estimated Danish banks could borrow about $20bn.
