The fifth Association Council bringing together the European Union (EU) and Moldova was held on 30 September 2019.

The Association Council took stock of the implementation of progress of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement since the previous Association Council.

The Association Council discussed political association, and it also reviewed cooperation in the area of justice, freedom and security. In addition, the Association Council addressed progress made under the deep and comprehensive free trade area (DCFTA). It also focused on economic and sectoral cooperation. Finally, representatives from both sides held a discussion on global challenges, the Eastern Partnership and the Transnistrian settlement.
