Euro contagion fears hit Spain and Italy

The euro and the Spanish and Italian bond markets came under pressure on the 23 May 2011 amid growing investor fears that the problems of Greece are hitting the bigger economies of Europe’s single currency.

EurActiv reported that financial markets piled pressure on heavily indebted eurozone countries as rating agencies raised new concerns over the economy of Italy and Belgium.
