On his way to Moldova for the second meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), trench President Emmanuel Macron stopped in Bratislava (Slovakia) to attend the GLOBSEC Forum. On this occasion, he presented a vision for a militarily capable European Union (EU) that enlarges eastwards. The author argues that his goal was to reassure his East and Central European partners about France's commitment to supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia. When it comes to EU enlargement, the author argues that making this a reality meant revising the bloc's governance.
