A poll conducted for WalesOnline in July 2013 showed more voters in Wales would opt to leave the European Union than stay in. 37% of people in Wales would vote in a referendum for the UK to quit the EU while just 29% would vote to stay in. The rest said they would either not vote (21%), or don’t know (14%).

Responding to the results, First Minister Carwyn Jones said: 'This survey serves to highlight the divergence of opinion on EU membership – even here in Wales'.
