The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 31 May 2018 an initiative urging the European Commission to propose legislation to tackle used car odometer fraud more effectively.

Further information:

MEPs called for a new set of rules that includes national mileage data registers, to be made accessible across borders. Buyers of a used car should be able to verify the accuracy of its odometer reading, regardless of the Member State in which it was previously registered, according to this initiative.
