On 25 May 2016, the European Commission announced that fourteen new Primary Care Centres were to be built across Ireland following a new EUR 70 million, 27-year loan from the European Investment Bank. The loan benefited from support from the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), the heart of the Investment Plan for Europe.
