Regulation (Euratom) 2021/765 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 10 May 2021 - establishing the Research and Training Programme of the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC) for the period 2021-2025.
This Regulation establishes the Euratom Programme for 2021-2025 and the rules for participation and dissemination in indirect actions under the Euratom Programme, complementing Horizon Europe. It lays down the objectives of the Euratom Programme, the budget for the relevant period, the forms of funding and the rules for providing such funding. The Regulation also repeals Regulation (Euratom) 2018/1563.
The draft law was originally tabled by the European Commission on 7 June 2018 as part of the Horizon Europe package, in the framework of the wider package of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027. The plenary of the European Parliament adopted its position on this proposal on 16 January 2019. In May 2020, the Commission adopted revamped proposals on the MFF 2021-2027. The Council of the European Union eventually reached a political agreement on the financial envelope for this pr0gramme on 18 December 2020. The Act was formally adopted by the Council on 10 May 2021 and published in the Official Journal on 12 May 2021.
