Report on the creation of a specific framework for simple, transparent and standardised synthetic securitisation, limited to balance-sheet synthetic securitisation

Summary:

Report published by the European Commission on 24 July 2020, concerning the development of a simple, transparent and standardised (STS) framework for synthetic securitisation.

Further information:

Article 45(2) of Regulation (EU) 2017/2402 (the Securitisation Regulation) requires the European Commission to submit to the co-legislators a report on the creation of a specific STS framework for balance-sheet synthetic securitisation. This report should be based on a report on this matter by the European Banking Authority (EBA), which was also required under the same Regulation. The EBA published the required report in May 2020.

This report was adopted by the Commission as part of the so-called EU Capital Markets Recovery Package.
