Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union, of the one part, and the Government of Greenland and the Government of Denmark, of the other part.
The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement (SFPA) and protocol establishes the principles, rules and procedures governing:
The agreement covers a period of four years, with the possibility of a two-year extension. The need for a new agreement arose from the expiration of the previous Fisheries Partnership Agreement (FPA) on 30 December 2020. The EU's intention was also to integrate certain provisions of Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) that the FPA does not cover.
Negotiations for the SFPA were concluded on 8 January 2021 and the Agreement was signed on 22 April 2021.
