The Dynamics of European integration

Summary:

This book represents the outcome of a collaborative process which brought together a group of academics and policy-makers from Europe and North America, some 20 of whom have contributed chapters to the final work. Its editor notes that they set out to reassess some of the 'classic' academic theories of European integration which gained currency in the 1950s and 1960s, and bring a new conceptual framework to bear upon formal and informal networks and integration processes in Europe.

In this general framework, contributions are categorised according to four broad headings: the economic and technical dynamics of integration, the centre/periphery dimension, social dynamics (including cross-border movements and cultural linkages) and legal and institutional patterns.
