Commission launches European Solidarity Corps

The European Commission launched on 7 December 2016 the European Solidarity Corps intitative, which aims to provide new opportunities for young Europeans to engage in solidarity activities across Europe.

The initiative is part of a package of actions on youth employment and education, as a result of the considerations agreed by the informal European Council summit in September. It was first announced by the European Commission president during his State of the Union speech.
