Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union at a meeting on 7 December 2020, concerning the situation in Lebanon.

Further information:

The conclusions highlight the concern over the financial, economic, social and political crisis affecting Lebanon, and which was further exacerbated by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and the explosion at Beirut port in August 2020.

The Council reiterates its support to the Lebanese population and calls on all national stakeholders to support the formation of a credible government in the country, able to implement reforms. The conclusions also set out the reforms needed to address Lebanon's crisis. In light of the intention to support the people in Lebanon, the European Union (EU) launched alongside the United Nations and the World Bank a Reform, Recovery and Reconstruction Framework. Despite the assistance provided by the EU to the country, this is only to continue so far as there is tangible progress on the reforms.

These conclusions were adopted by the Council of the European Union at a meeting on 7 December 2020.
