Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/2032 on an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility to support military units trained by the EU Training Mission in Mozambique

Decision (CFSP) 2021/2032 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 19 November 2021 - establishing a €40 million assistance measure under the European Peace Facility (EPF) in support of Mozambique.

The EPF is an instrument aimed at enhancing the European Union's ability to prevent conflicts, build peace and strengthen international security. It enables the financing of operational actions under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) that have military or defence implications. The latest framework has been set out by Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/509.

The funding was allocated to support the Mozambican military units trained by the EU military training mission in the country (EUTM Mozambique), and enable them to conduct security operations in the northern province of Cabo Delgado. This assistance measure adds to a previous urgent measure, adopted in July 2021 to provide the most urgently required equipment and supplies for the first Mozambican companies benefiting from the training.

This Decision was adopted by the Council of the European Union on 19 November 2021 and published in the Official Journal on 22 November 2021.
