Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council, 29 March 2022

Summary:

A meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) was held on 29 March 2022. On this occasion, the meeting focused on matters relating to Health. The agenda includes the following items:

• Update from the European Commission on the public health and humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the steps taken by the European Union;
• Discussion on updating the EU strategy for supplying and donating vaccines in order to address challenges for COVID-19 vaccination;
• Discussion on strengthening cooperation and coordination on rare diseases between Member States and at EU level;
• Update from the Council Presidency on the Council Decision authorising the opening of negotiations for an international agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, as well as complementary amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR);
• Update from the Council Presidency on the latest events held in the field of health;
• Update frim the Council Presidency on the trilogue negotiations concerning the proposed Regulation on serious cross-border threats to health;
• Adoption of a number of pending legislative items;
• Adoption of a proposed Regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 138/2004 as regards regional economic accounts for agriculture.
