Signing ceremony of the Association Agreements with Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, 27 June 2014

This memo, published on the 23 June 2014, provided information about the European Union's Association Agreements with Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The signings of these Association Agreements took place at the European Council summit on the 27 June 2014. The signings were an important moment both for the EU and for the countries concerned as the Agreements would significantly deepen political and economic ties between the signatories with a long-term perspective of closer political association and economic integration.

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko hailed the 'historic' trade pact with the European Union, as the 'most important day' since independence in 1991.

But Russia said the partnership agreements would have 'serious consequences'.
