Politico reported in October 2015 on an attempt from several French members of the European Parliament (EP) to push for the chamber to have a single seat in Strasbourg.

This was a fight-back against a campaign by many MEPs and others for the European Parliament to centralise its activities in Brussels. The campaigners argued that travelling from Brussels to Strasbourg several times a year was a waste of time and money

However, news that the EP building in the Belgian capital city was in need of a massive renovation could strengthen the case for those arguing for Strasbourg.
