EU School Scheme for Milk, Fruit & Vegetables

The School Scheme for Milk, Fruit & Vegetables was put together by the European Union to cover two separate programmes under the same legal framework - the School Fruit & Vegetables Scheme and the School Milk Scheme.

The Scheme was scheduled to start operating in August 2017, aiming at greater efficiency, more focused support and an enhanced education dimension.

The proposal for a single programme covering the previous schemes was put forward by the European Commission in January 2014. An informal agreement between Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on the draft law was reached in December 2015, followed by the formal adoption on both sides in March and April 2016.
