2003 Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, which underpins relations between the EU and the Andean Community (CAN), consisting of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

In Economics, after several struggling years with the Banana custom barriers Ecuador and the EU have been negotiating a Trade Agreement from 2014 to November 2016. This agreement enable Ecuador to join Peru and Colombia in the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union. This agreement would enable them to benefit from a preferential trade agreement and to obtain better access for Ecuador’s main exports to the EU.
