Meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council were held on 11 November 2016 (relating to trade) and on 14-15 November 2016 (relating to defence). In addition, before the Council on the 14 November 2016, at the invitation of the High Representative, Ministers of Foreign Affairs had an informal dinner on the 13 November 2016 to exchange views on the way forward in EU-US relations following the US Presidential Election on the 8 November 2016. The agenda included the following topics: + Discussion on the modernisation of the EU's trade defence instruments and the new anti-dumping methodology, following up on the European Council conclusions and the Communication published by the European Commission, both from October; + Discussion on the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the post-Nairobi process; + Information on the state of play regarding the negotiations on the Translantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP); + Signature of the Protocol of Accession of Ecuador to the Trade Agreement between Colombia, Peru and the European Union; + Discussion on the development of the European Union's security and defence policy; + Other topics: Relations with Iran; Regulation on torture goods; Implementation of the European Union Security Sector Reform (SSR); Relations with Azerbaijan; Prolongation of internal border controls; Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons; Adoption of further sanctions against the Syrian regime; conclusions on the Eastern Partnership. |
